To avoid the awkwardness while opening a door or having a door opened on a date, please follow these guidelines:
1. Ladies stand on the handle side of the door as they wait for the door to be opened for them.
2. Gentlemen stand on the hinge side of the door to open the door for ladies.
If these guidelines are followed, no one should have to walk under an arm or push, run and catch the door before it closes. If you don’t believe me, try it the wrong way and see what happens!
