Invitations – Can You Bring Your Children or a Guest?

If you are invited to a wedding or another social event and are wondering if your children are included in the invitation, look at the way the invitation is addressed.

The envelope should be addressed exactly to those who are invited.  If your children’s names are not included on the envelope, then they are not invited.  Do not bring them to the event.

If you would like to bring a date with you, the envelope, either inside or outside, would read, ” Mr. William Smith and Guest”.  If the word guest is not on the envelope, you should not bring a date.

It is improper to bring a guest who is not invited.

If the above rules are followed, it is not necessary to print, “Adults Only” or “No Children Please” on the invitation.
