A Tip to Remember Names When Introduced
January 18, 2010 on 12:36 pm | In Business Networking, Etiquette Tips, Introductions | 3 CommentsAfter an introduction, try to use the person’s name in conversation several times. Forgetting Names
August 7, 2009 on 12:20 pm | In Business Etiquette, Business Networking, Etiquette Tips, Introductions | No CommentsWe have all, at some point in time, had a memory lapse and forgotten some one’s name when greeting them. When this happens to you, don’t be ashamed, you’re a typical human being.
The best policy to follow when you’ve forgotten some one’s name is honesty. You might say, “I remember meeting you at last month’s meeting, but I’m sorry, I can’t remember your name.”
Try to say something about the person that you do remember such as where you met, where they work, or where they live. This will help indicate you didn’t didn’t completely dismiss the last introduction or meeting.
Shaking Hands When The Person Is Not Seated Next To You
April 17, 2009 on 12:41 pm | In Etiquette Tips, Introductions, Shaking Hands | No CommentsWe are frequently introduced to others who are not sitting immediately next to us. It occurs at events such as luncheons, board meetings and social occasions.
Under no circumstance should you reach across the table in front of someone to shake hands. Instead, stand up and extend your hand to the individual you are being introduced to reaching behind the backs of others sitting at the table.
